The US Department of War has announced six critical technology areas (CTS’s) that it will highlight in upcoming research. These areas are as follows:
- Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAI)
- Biomanufacturing (BIO)
- Contested Logistics Technologies (LOG)
- Quantum and Battlefield Information Dominance (Q-BID)
- Scaled Directed Energy (SCADE)
- Scaled Hypersonics (SHY)
These six critical technology areas are places where the War Department believes that it must advance in order to stay competitive with potential foes located around the world. It is unclear at this time to whether these CTA’s will translate to SBIR or STTR topics, though that is entirely possible in the future.
If you are developing technologies within one of these six areas, you may want to begin reviewing Department of War topics at their website: DSIP Note that you will need to signup for a DoW account to be able to see the topics that are presented. New topics appear the first Wednesday of each month.
Are you representing a Wisconsin-based company that is interested in applying for a DoW SBIR or STTR grant? Don’t go it alone! Contact the CTC for assistance at wisconsinctc.org and click on the “Request for Counseling” button. Todd or Rob will be happy to assist you.
