Wisconsin CTC provides a free service to Wisconsin-based businesses who are looking to get a grant called a Presubmission Panel Review. We offer one of these about a month in advance of each NIH and NSF deadline.
What happens during a Presubmission Panel Review? CTC will take your (more or less) finished grant and provide it to local experts to review. These local experts will review your grant as if it had been provided to the agency and then provide you with feedback. This feedback consists of a “grade” per the agency’s guidance and a list of strengths and weaknesses that they observed in your grant. The experts will discuss your grant and come to a consensus about it as well, and these comments will be summarized for you as well.
So why should you participate?
- This is an opportunity to get two fresh pairs of eyes looking at your grant.
- CTC reviewers are critical, just like the reviewers will be at the NIH or NSF, but they are hoping to help you improve your grant.
- Feedback is functional and helpful.
- You will get your feedback with a few weeks left to improve your grant.
What if you are not submitting to the NSF or the NIH? Well, depending upon the deadline for your grant, you may still be able to participate in the program. For example:
- Department of Education grants are due in early January. Consider submitting your grant to our NIH review panel set for December. We’ll make sure that your grant is reviewed according to Education’s guidelines.
- The USDA/NIFA grants are commonly due in October. Participate in our August panel review for the NIH’s September 5th deadline to get your grant reviewed to the USDA’s guidelines.
- Have a different deadline? Contact us to find out when you might best fit into our schedule.
