DOE announces FY25 SBIR/STTR Phase I Release 2

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released the topics for the FY 2025 Phase I Release 2 Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.

These topics cover various fields:

  • Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER): develop innovative technologies to enhance the security and resilience of the U.S. energy infrastructure against cyber threats, physical attacks, and natural disasters.
  • Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (NNSA): focuses on preventing nuclear threats globally by managing and controlling nuclear materials and technologies.
  • Office of Electricity: Enhancing grid reliability, energy storage, and cyber resilience in the electric sector.
  • Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE): Emphasis on renewable energy, including solar, wind, geothermal, and hydrogen, as well as energy-efficient building technologies.
  • Office of Environmental Management (EM): Projects focused on climate change, environmental resilience, and biotechnology advancements.
  • Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM): Carbon capture, utilization, and storage innovations.
  • Office of Nuclear Energy: Advanced nuclear reactor technology and nuclear waste management solutions.

The topics in this release address needs for technologies that can support resilience, grid modernization, emissions reduction, and advanced material development, among other areas. Interested applicants must submit a Letter of Intent by January 7, 2025, with final applications due by February 26, 2025.
